Dear Sir or Madam,
during the eviction last Tuesday , a frightening case of police violence occurred – unobserved by media representatives. Police officers not only dragged a person unsecured from an excavator, but pushed them down from a height of two meters with a kick. The video recording can be found under this link: https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjzJF9M (second 20)
It was pure luck that the person remained uninjured.
Anna Kontriner, who observed the incident, says: "It was unbelievable to watch this scene. After the person landed on the ground and didn't get up, I wanted to go to her, but the area was cordoned off and surrounded by police officers, the person was taken away by the police. It wasn't until the day after that we learned that luckily she wasn't injured. One day after the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change said that we have the last chance to prevent the collapse of the world's climate, a young person in Vienna who is committed to the climate is becoming a victim of police violence. That leaves me speechless."
It is not the first incident of police violence against LobauBleibt activists: just a few weeks ago, a person in police custody had a rib broken. We expect an immediate and full investigation of the incidents.
